Unless they’re talking about Children of the Corn (which is a short story, not a book) I don’t know what King book they’re referencing. And as a Grade A certified pedantic asshole SHORT STORIES DON’T COUNT.

The opposite of that took place in Ohio. The Regulators

I’m guessing this is what OP is talking about. That book is fuckin weird.

Yeah, “Regulators” is an odd ass example. The other book that King released at the same time under his actual name (“Desperation”) was way more memorable drawing from my adolescent mind. Having read both at the time of around their respective release, I don’t remember much about Regulators other than it takes place in a suburb and Desperation is so vastly superior a read/100 and it’s not even close. So yeah, deep dive from OP I guess

Tak was a memorable character though. Stuck with me throughout my life. I think Stephen was just trying to build a world around Tak, tbh.

Wasn’t he the villain in “Desperation” too? From what I vaguely remember, more pronounced in my mind with the body-horror possession shit. Tak is probably meant to be some kinda Pennywise/Flagg offshoot (lost idea) or something

He was, yes. It’s been too long on the details but I think I remember him staying in bodies much longer in Desperation.

Adding to that; doesn’t “Children…” take place in like Iowa or something? I can’t think of a King book that takes place specifically in Ohio, but I also haven’t really read his stuff the past decade
