F-Droid is an installable catalogue of FOSS (Free and Open Source Software) applications for the Android platform. The client makes it easy to browse, install, and keep track of updates on your device.
IzzyOnDroid is an F-Droid style repository for Android apps, provided by IzzyOnDroid. Applications in this repository are official binaries built by the original application developers, taken from their resp. repositories (mostly Github).
LemDro.id is the instance for all things Android within the threadiverse (Lemmy, Mbin, PieFed and now even NodeBB) and so it’s only right that F-Droid finds itself a host on Lemdroid.
The amazing team over at Lemdroid were gracious enough to host the F-Droid community. This opens F-Droid discussions to users whose home instance block ML and more users having easier access to content is never a bad thing.

There’s a clear division. You’re trying to micromanage and for what. Let communities exist. People that want to go to the biggest community can. There’s been plenty of occasions where I’ve seen more discussions in smaller communities.
Letting communities exist doesn’t work when the main competitor is Reddit that has been established for 15 years. Small communities start, the main poster shouts into the void for a while, then stops posting and leaves the platform. That’s the whole motivation behind [email protected]
When Reddit started, there were no subreddits. There was a single feed, and everything was there. Then, when there was enough activity, general subreddits started.

My stance is that using a general football community is good based on the amount of regular posters. I think it should be the same for Android.

I like the admin team and the community of Lemdroid. Whether they’re tiny or there’s more popular elsewhere. I’m not chasing numbers of trying to act like ActivityPub Jesus, first and foremost is cultivating my good time without letting my ego get in the way.

You care about defederation and moderation policies. Most users just go for the community with the higher number of subs / MAU. This is the main reason why [email protected] and [email protected] are still the largest communities by far while [email protected] and [email protected] exist.
In a way, you show it yourself with the second. You have to go to [email protected] because it’s the only active community. If there was a similarly active gunners community elsewhere, wouldn’t you post and comment there instead?
If we want decentralization, the non-LW/ml communities have to be better, otherwise network effect just brings people there naturally.
