So I've tried both, and they both work, but with different effects. The dex is the only thing that helps with executive function, that kick start to actually initiate tasks. But Ritalin is more effective in muting the mental noise which helps me stay focused longer. It also helps me regulate my emotions much better. I have young kids and life gets hectic, so ritalin helps be keep my cool in this moments. But I'm reluctant to give up the Dex (what I'm currently prescribed) because I need it most work days to get things moving. I wonder if anyone has the same experience and whether they've managed to work with their prescriber to use both on lower doses?
