The mastodon and lemmy content I’m seeing feels like 90% of it comes from people who are:
~30 years old or older
tech enthusiasts/workers
linux users
There’s nothing wrong with that particular demographic or anything, but it doesn’t feel like a win to me if the entire fediverse is just one big monoculture.
I wonder what it is that is keeping more diverse users away? Is picking a server/federation too complicated? Or is it that they don’t see any content that they like?
Thoughts?

I rock Mate, cause I’m weird 😂. I tried i3 for a hot minute, but couldn’t get used to it.
For newcomers, i3 takes a bit of time because it’s radically different from how we are used to using our computers. However, if you force yourself to learn for a few hours, you’ll like it. I, for example, can’t stand to use traditional DEs anymore because they feel so slow :D
Yeah, I had to run xfce on my netbook, mate was too slow 😢, might try it again.
