Minecraft, if I’ve got a project to do.

I run a local server so that I can play with my kid, but I’m the one who has to actually get things done. Simple things like looking for diamonds is enough to keep me playing for hours. I’ll find a vein, and I think that’s not enough, I need to find more, so I’ll find half a dozen more veins, but then my brain switches to the ‘I may as well carry on’ mindset.

I mined a mountain down to ground level recently because the top was spoiling the view from our village, and once I started, it was quite soothing.

Gatorade tea would certainly be interesting. I don’t know if it would be good interesting or bad interesting though…

Either way, I just found the thread:

I read on here somewhere recently that a pinch of salt in a cup of over brewed tea takes away the bitter taste, and I’m sure the reason given was something to do with the acidity of the tea being lowered.

I might be completely wrong, but it might be worth trying with a small cup 🤷🏻‍♂️

They definitely qualify, you’ve just got a decent boss 👍

She got stressed by me clicking things constantly during the (remote) interviews.

What in the everloving fuck did she think was going to happen on a remote interview for an ADHD diagnosis!?

Don’t feel any guilt for that. At all.

In my late teens to early 20s, I worked in a nightclub (UK). I loved the job and made a load of great friends, but it was a lot of hard work.

I loved it for the reasons you described, especially on the busy nights when it was non stop. I found though that I was working myself to the bone. I didn’t realise it at the time, but I didn’t have much of a life away from the club. It was as if I hyperfocused on the club for a few years.

Higher education wasn’t the right path for me at the time, but I dropped out of college for the job, and saw less and less of my friends who were not linked to the club in some way.

It may not be anything to do with the ADHD, but I find fast paced work like that almost addictive, and would definitely say that it’s something to be aware of, just in case.

This sounds like you’re not getting tired because of driving or riding, but from being forced to sit through something boring.

I love riding my motorbike, and find that it wakes me up, and brings me out of a bad mood. I do get tired after a long ride, but it’s a good tired, not feeling drained.

If I’m forced to ride on the same old busy roads into the nearest city and back though, I feel irritable and drained afterwards. It doesn’t help that I’m in Wales, and we’ve had artificially slow speed limits forced on us, with penalties for exceeding them, so it feels more like an exercise in concentrating on the speedo, rather than enjoying the ride.

Drink plenty of water too. We’re awful for not realising how little we’ve drank.

First of all, it gets easier. Even if nothing else changes, once she can start doing things for herself, you automatically get a bit of extra time. Once she can feed herself, you’ll be able to eat breakfast at the same time, for example. It might not sound like much, but it makes a big difference.

I have to ask, what are you doing in the morning that takes over three hours? Not judging, but like the other poster said, you may be able to prep some of it the evening before and take the pressure off.

As far as breakfast and meds go, is there anything you do automatically in the morning? I tend to make myself a hot drink, so I put my meds and things next to the kettle, and I remember them because they’re in front of me. Maybe doing something similar would help?

The most important thing is to try to take some of the pressure off though. Maybe put some snack bars in your coat that you wear to work, or in your desk. Put your daily meds in separate containers so that if you’re rushing, you can take them with you?

My kid was quite active too, so we built a baby prison (not as bad as it sounds, honest!). We had a sort of extra long baby gate that formed a circle, and put some toys inside. This one was fairly small, so we only used it for when we had to do something that we couldn’t do with a baby, like washing the dishes and cooking dinner. We also bought a paddling pool with inflatable sides, and put some thick blankets in the bottom. My kid couldn’t climb out of it, so could play in it with their toys, but couldn’t do anything that would hurt them. Not everyone likes the idea of things like these, but they kept my kid safe while we did things that had to get done, and it gave us the chance to relax a bit and stay sane.

How did you know?! 🙈🤣

It’s plausible, but slow so far. I can get some of the games running, but slowly. Others crash, and I have no idea why

Emulating Switch games on my phone. I’ve got a Switch, and I’m emulating the games that I own, but because it didn’t immediately work on the phone, it’s started that little obsession.
