Yesterday, lemmy.blahaj.zone announced their defederation from lemmynsfw.com [http://lemmynsfw.com] and argued that lemmynsfw don’t care enough about CSAM. - announcement: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/1204784 [https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/post/1204784] - response: https://lemmynsfw.com/post/418317 [https://lemmynsfw.com/post/418317] Although I think lemmynsfw is right about this, that’s not the point. I believe lemmy.blahaj.zone is an instance caught in the positivity echo chamber (to put it more roughly, circle jerk). You can never interact negatively with their decisions or thoughts. Downvotes disabled. Admin literally removing any opposing view while keeping positive ones. Check this comment: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/1336587 [https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/1336587] Admin removed the comment while keeping reply of it and commenting with Exactly this. Dear friend, we don’t know the main comment so how can we agree any of them? IDK. I think it is very annoying for an instance built on diversity to have such reactions. Is it just me thinking like that? Am I the stupid one here? Note: Posting this here so admins won’t be able to remove. Edit: I guess I should add this. IDC should they defederate or not. I just don’t liked their behaviour.

Users a pretty split on the decision and some in that thread are claiming the bhalaj is only doing it for the sake of drama.

Edit: more drama

I’m not really down with this being presented as drama, it’s unfortunate the way it played out but overall its their choice to defederate. We actively encourage other instances who forbid pornography to defederate from us. Lemmy.ml, sopuli, etc etc we are totally fine with, we have no malice or hate towards them because thats their choice and their reasons and concerns for doing so are more than legitimate especially with how limited lemmy is right now and the locations that they host their site at. We have open discussions with other instance admins and welcome discussions of their potential concerns, it’s just we didn’t really know what the concerns were beyond “this looks wrong because it looks wrong delete it” which made it extremely frustrating to try to figure out concisely what the problem was so we could address it.

My only issue is it being presented as if we are fine with CSAM, when we aren’t and to be accused of that is extremely serious.

Rules

  1. Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
  2. When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.
  3. The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.

The usual instance-wide rules also apply.

Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)

Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.

Includes lore like how a instance got it’s name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc

(New) This sub’s intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don’t get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama
