Blahaj's admin has refederated with Hexbear, using most Blahaj users unhappy and baffled. No communication from the admins regarding the change, though one user speculated it was a halloween trick. Multiple pings to the admin Ada have gone unanswered, even though Ada is clearly still active on Lemmy.

> Things got heated on the piracy community at lemmy.dbzer0.com when the admin, db0, announced plans to use a GenerativeAI tool to rotate the community's banner daily with random images. > > While some praised the creative idea, others strongly objected, arguing that AI-generated art lacks soul and meaning. A heated debate ensued over the artistic merits of AI art versus human-created art. > > One user threatened to unsubscribe from the entire instance over the "wasteful BS" of randomly changing the banner every day. The admin defended the experiment as a fun way to inject randomness and chaos. > > Caught in the crossfire were arguments about corporate ties to AI image generators, electricity waste, and whether the banner switch-up even belonged on a piracy community in the first place. > > In the end, the admin stubbornly insisted on moving forward with the AI banner rotation, leaving unhappy users to either embrace the chaotic visuals or jump ship. Such is the drama and controversy that can emerge from a seemingly innocuous banner change! — Claude, Anthropic AI

I'm kind of okay with this. It was a reasonable take -- not a hot take or an incendiary comment or something. Mods using their power to shut down discussion -- expected on that instance I guess ;) ![](https://lemmy.ca/pictrs/image/6f1dac19-3a5e-41d3-a86d-fbcc11a1ba47.png) This is my first time getting any sort of ban on any lemmy instance. Now I just need to get banned on a right-wing server for some other centrist take, to keep balance in the universe ;) How many of you have experienced this on lemmy.ml?

@fediblock account of mastodon is shuttering operations due to their instance being silenced by mastodon.art.
[This is my best summary of this situation](https://hachyderm.io/@db0/111103424978269058), as I understood it as someone from the outside looking in. [However mastodon.art](https://mastodon.art/@simcha/111103704573744361) is firing back that this is all due to low-key bigotry by the admin of artisan.chat inside secret discord channels, which has been going on for a while. Blogposts linked with accusations against each other.

My post got removed from [email protected] (Confused)
cross-posted from: https://lemm.ee/post/22957810 >Ok, so, I crossposted the documentary “Four Horsemen 2012” to [email protected] and it got removed for not being “a solarpunk themed documentary” - all good, it was my mistake I didn’t check it’s a community for documentaries with a specific there/topic. >**Then**, I wake up to the message from the SAME PERSON ([email protected]) removing the same documentary from [email protected] which I assume is a GENERAL PURPOSE instance for documentaries about all topics. Their reason was: “I’m going to remove this documentary out of solidarity for Ukraine” even tho the documentary had NOTHING to do with Ukraine and doesn’t even mention it ONCE! I’m super confused. The rules for this community don’t even say anything about certain documentaries being allowed or not. What is happening? Ideological censorship?

FIY, my account was banned on lemmy.world for sharing the info on one ofLemmy developer, SleeplessOne1917. The post was also removed from lemmy.ml. I made this throwaway account yesterday because there was always the possibility of getting my main account banned. It's important for everyone to know the comments of the dev (donors to the project the most) because ["TBF the future lemmy developer isn’t too far off. I’ve been discussing being added to the NLNet grant along with another person, phiresky, with Dessalines and Nutomic."](https://lemmygrad.ml/comment/2592588). Beehaw defederates from lemmygrad
When did the lemmygrad defederation happen? Chris Remington mod A couple of days ago. alyaza about aug 10, mostly motivated by their lack of moderation/lack of compatibility with our values but also because we’re trying to figure out why our server is using so much more space than it should be (because if we don’t figure it out soon our hosting costs will need to double). one of the presumptions is who we federate with has something to do with it and lemmygrad was the biggest place we federated with, but we don’t really have overlap with their userbase so it doesn’t make very much sense to assume any additional load they might be adding.

Beehaw considering Leaving Lemmy and the Fediverse
A few days ago, [Beehaw posted an announcement in their Chat community](https://beehaw.org/post/7754304) about the challenges of content moderation and the possibility of leaving Lemmy. That post was eventually locked. Then, about two days ago, Beehaw posted an [announcement in their support community](https://beehaw.org/post/7776438) that they aren't confident about the long-term use of Lemmy, due to so-called concerns about Lemmy. [RedditAlternatives discussion](https://old.reddit.com/r/RedditAlternatives/comments/16gmjql/beehaw_considering_leaving_lemmy_and_the_fediverse/) If you currently use Beehaw and want to stay on the federated Lemmy network, consider migrating your account to another instance like lemm.ee.

Waveform.social is shutting down
Cross-posted from [[email protected]](https://waveform.social/c/waveform) Hi there, I have decided to take down waveform.social. There are too many nefarious actors trying to break it and I don't have the time or energy to keep fighting them off. For your information: Over the pas month I have had to: 1. Add various DDOS prevention measures to block unwanted (repeated) signups. 2. Delete a bunch of literal white noise uploads that filled my 4TB picture storage... Twice. 3. Repair Lemmy (or rather pictures) after it crashed because of full storage. I will keep waveform.social active until Friday next week so you can pull data from here, though I expect most of it has been federated to other servers anyway.

Lemmy.ml mods remove “two-sideism” comments on Israel-Palestine conflict on AskLemmy, causing drama
A user posted the question [What opened your eyes to what's happening in Palestine?](https://lemmy.ml/post/8593526) on [email protected]. As is evidenced, multiple comments have been removed by mods. The [Mod log](https://lemmy.ml/modlog/8?page=1&actionType=ModRemoveComment) shows the moderator removing multiple of these comments due to "rule 1", which on lemmy.ml is: >No bigotry - including racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, or xenophobia. Code of Conduct. The mods then also [banned](https://lemmy.ml/modlog?page=1&actionType=ModBan) some of the commenting users for a few days. This all lead to [a post ](https://withachanceof.com/post/68568)by one of the affected users to AskLemmy, accusing the mods of "removing all comments critical of Hamas". "No comments critical of Israel were removed", the user alleges. The post has since been removed by the lemmy.ml mods as well and the user banned for 14 days.

Right wing fediverse instances?
Lemmy is full of plenty of people who hate me for being trans and disabled. And way too many self-identified leftists who think I'm being trans and disabled the wrong way and am therefore a right wing troll. Most of the well known Lemmy instances lean communist, even if their admins can be quite socially regressive. As such I've accumulated a reputation as being a troublemaker for the left. I want to go make trouble for the right to fix my reputation. I wanna go talk shit, stir up drama, and get banned. I want the modlogs to say a bunch of open bigots hate me instead of the closet bigots who hate me now. I wanna ruin some nazis' days and call them shitheads. Where do I go on the Fediverse to go make trouble for the open reactionaries?
