Update: In light of the programming.dev update here
https://programming.dev/post/8399272 [https://programming.dev/post/8399272], the
defederation is no longer going ahead. However, something more needs to be said.
Even here on Blahaj, some of our users took issue with the choice to defederate
over this issue.
So I would like to give some background and context. Blahaj Zone exists, because
both Kaity and I left mainstream social media to escape transphobia. Reddit,
with its lackluster approach to fighting transphobia, and twitter, with its
outright celebration of transphobia pushed us here, to the fediverse, and to
create Blahaj Zone and Blahaj Lemmy. To that end, we will continue to treat
transphobia seriously. Our goal is to create a space where gender diverse folk
can exist and let our defenses down a little, where we don’t have to worry about
getting dragged in to an argument with a transphobe, or a bad faith actor “just
asking questions”. If you are looking for a more reddit like experience, where
in the interest of increased engagement, we let low level transphobia slide, and
push responsibility for dealing with it on to community mods and individual
users, then you will likely not be happy with blahaj going forward. If you
choose to stay here, understand that we may defederate again in the future over
similar issues. The choice is yours. ====== It has recently been brought to my
attention that the lead admin of programming.dev is engaging in ongoing
transphobia. You can see the conversation in question here

[https://programming.dev/comment/6131539] For that reason we will be
defederating from programming.dev in 48 hours. There are only three communities
on that instance used by small number of our users, so this won’t have a big
impact, but if you are one of those users, you will need to use an alt account
on another instance if you wish to access the communities.
The admin banned people for saying that calling everything transpobia isn’t the way to make you seem reasonable and all non blahaj TLC get removed by default.
Kind of fucked up reasoning, but you’re not wrong, it was pretty harmless, but the point of blahaj is specifically to be a trans space, no matter how small that ends up being so…
Idk of they are trans but they are blahaj users and got lots of upvotes for it there are however trans people saying explicitly that its BS and completely out of proportion.
You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: [email protected]
Rules
Any drama must be posted as an observer, you cannot post drama that you are involved with.
When posting screenshots of drama, you must obscure the identity of all the participants.
The poster must have a credible post and comment history before submitting a piece of history. This is to avoid sock-puppetry and witch hunts.
The usual instance-wide rules also apply.
Chronicle the life and tale of the fediverse (+ matrix)
Largely a sublemmy about capturing drama, from fediverse spanning drama to just lemmy drama.
Includes lore like how a instance got it’s name, how an instance got defederated, how an admin got doxxed, fedihistory etc
(New) This sub’s intentions is to an archive/newspaper, as in preferably don’t get into fights with each other or the ppl featured in the drama
Looking at the comment thread and seeing that it’s all hexbear users makes me think whatever he said was justified.
He didn’t even say anything bad or transpobic, just played a game and made a post that ot won a award…

Good luck, I guess.
It’s perfectly fine to have ultra safe spaces, but I do wonder why they’re then putting them on the Fediverse.
I mean there are literally people in the thread saying they outright leave blahaj for this shit and it’s 100% justified.
Are the trans people saying that?
Idk of they are trans but they are blahaj users and got lots of upvotes for it there are however trans people saying explicitly that its BS and completely out of proportion.
