Yeah this was beaten do death in American history classes in middle and high school in the 1980s along with the internment camps during WW2 for Japanese and German citizens.
I struggled with this for awhile my solution was literally to go hungry I might skip one or two meals but eventually the hunger pains will beat away the laziness and make it a higher priority. Once I felt the pain enough I got a positive hit from cooking I didn’t get before.
I applaud him it’s was insanely generous at the time. Outdated for most of todays work but a 4 day type work week etc wouldn’t have even been thought possible at the time.
Only compare yourself to yourself if you’re doing better than you were a month ago, year or even decade you’re going the right way. Everyone has skeletons in their closet to you rarely get to see medical issues, spouse cheating, debt up to their eyeballs all this can be hidden for a long time.
