Shrooms are becoming decriminalized and even legalized across the US now. It’s a shame that the admins banned the community at all on lemmy.world. By their logic, they should also ban marijuana related communities. ItS sTiLl iLleGal!!!

Psilocybin is a very interesting and useful chemical and it is just stupid for it to be censored. What do those admins wish to accomplish? Shhhhhhh! Don’t talk about something that may help with mental disorders or even PTSD. Mushroom bad!

Of all the good things that lemmy.world admins do, this is ranks as one of the dumbest and short sighted.

I will probably start COShroomGrowers. It’s not illegal here and their argument becomes moot.

Aye. I couldn’t have said it better myself.

Not always. I am just saying men like me can be a bit bull-headed when taking about these kinds of issues, s’all.

I don’t want to stereotype others, so I am going to stereotype myself. Ignoring my issues or thinking that I can just “power through” them without help is kind of a curse for our gender. While I do try to give and take support where applicable, the primal instinct of being a “macho man” is still in the back of my mind. More often than not, women tend to be a bit more supportive and caring about mental help.

Ok, that is probably more of a generalization rather than a stereotype, but I think you might understand what I mean.

It’s possible that the console is clearing the visible logs when the page gets refreshed after you hit submit. If that is not the case, see if you can trap the HTTP response code after your browser sends the POST. There are a million and one ways this issue could be happening.

If it gets really bad, use a HTTP(s) man in the middle tool like Fiddler or even OWASP Zap to capture the full exchange. That may give you some more hints.

It could be the app that you are using, that Lemmy is still going through growing pains with the new flood of traffic or your phone/PC just hates you.

You are probably going to have to track down the debug logs on whatever device and app you are using to see if there are any post errors.

Oh. Never trust any web forms on any site, especially if you are typing a big message. I know it’s a pain, but selecting and copying your words is good insurance for long posts.

That is kinda what I was hinting at. If we define pain as something that causes a defensive (or similar) reaction, then sure: Plants react to “pain” in their own way. I have never seen a jellyfish react to “pain” though.

When my chinchilla starts barking, it’s easy to assume that he is in pain or otherwise uncomfortable, but to say that he is truly in pain is impossible. However, when animals hurt their foot and start limping, it’s a good theory that they are reacting to pain. My examples only include mammals though, to your point.

Excuse my rambling. I am not disagreeing with you, but just thinking out loud.

We may be able to tell if they are stressed, which could be related to pain, depending on your viewpoint.

Here is a recent study of audible reactions plant can have to stress: https://www.cell.com/cell/fulltext/S0092-8674(23)00262-3

Do plants react to stress and harmful situations like infestation? Absolutely. Do they actually feel pain as we understand it? Probably not since they lack a nervous system.

This boils down to the question: What is pain?

I’ll always be 15 in my heart and other sites do suck.

I hope you like Linux, btw. You are hanging with some old school nerds now. :)

To be fair, that is still going to happen. Everyone just needs to learn the phrase, “Don’t be a dick!”. ;)

That means exactly the opposite for youtube. It will double-down on its “algo” smarts.
