I mostly browse on desktop, but wasn’t a big fan of the main site, so I made my own one called Alexandrite that I think is more convenient to use. I use Voyager on my phone and I’m excited for Sync to release.
I use mlmym.org which is an Old Reddit style interface for Lemmy. Better than Old Reddit on mobile because it automatically reflows the sidebar to the bottom in vertical layout, though I use a PinePhone Pro with keyboard case so it’s pretty much always horizontal.
The solution is Linux Mobile, where browser becomes the only option as apps don’t tend to be available, but it’s a full fledged browser so it can use all the appropriate addons. Typing this from my PinePhone Pro with keyboard case, postmarketOS, LibreWolf with the same addon set that I have on my desktop and laptop because Firefox Sync keeps everything synced together.
True, but I was always an old.reddit user even when I used Reddit and Android (Firefox on Android). Now I use mlmym.org on my PinePhone. The experience is pretty much the same, except now I have a keyboard to type faster.
You can install Firefox Nightly and setup an addon collection on the FF website and use pretty much all desktop addons on your mobile Firefox browser. Then you can install TamperMonkey and search GreasyFork for custom usercripts that add enhancements to the website.
Or I could install Voyager and have a better user experience in 5 seconds. I love Firefox but the mobile experience is highly dependent on the care a site puts into their mobile site.
It’s a reference to the Voyager space program, which followed the Apollo space program. Apollo was the name of the reddit app for iOS that was very popular, and had many of the same features
That’s weird. I’m currently on Memmy, when I tap your link it stops at V , skipping ‘ger entirely. Though I ended up inside of Memory Alpha, all I got was:
V

Its Voyager now, but there are many links that all connect to it. Just saying its easier to remember than wefwef since thats not even the name of the app anymore
Liftoff is a better app experience than I ever had using any options for Reddit. It’s fanatastic. It’s far, far better than a browser experience as well.
it’s really great. I’m using connect on android, because it’s similar to RIF. But the beautiful thing is we have choice. I really hope you enjoy your lemmy experience on whatever app makes you happy.
I grabbed liftoff after reading about the early access when using web interface. I’m sure it is missing some features, but it does “just work”, so I’m pretty happy with it.
You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: [email protected]
Rules:
Be civil and nice.
Try not to excessively repost, as a rule of thumb, wait at least 2 months to do it if you have to.
I use voyager on android lol
The trick for me has been diversification. Firefox replaced RIF.
I use wefwef.app/Voyager on FF. I don’t believe ublock does anything though since its not an Ad based service
The m.lemmy.world and vger.app links also work
uBlock Origin doesn’t do anything in this case, but it’s more of a general statement of my browsing setup
I’m using ublock to block large media elements when I’m running low on data :)
I haven’t dove into the Android app options and honestly, as an Android developer, I might just make my own.
Check out liftoff before you do
I’ll check it out, thank you.
When I used the web version of Lemmy, I wasn’t able to find the subscribe button for communities.
You tap the “side bar” text to expand it and you have a subscribe button.
The best UX doesn’t need to be explained
Connect is at a stage where it could rival those now defunct mature 3PA Reddit apps
Using connect here too. Really enjoy using it.
Amen! Very happy with the app too :)
It has been fixed in v0.97
The amount of features is insane! Mark as read on scroll, blocking instances, etc are super useful!
Jerboa on Android is pretty solid imo
Try connect as well, made the switch yesterday and already loving the new features
Happy with Jerboa so far. Excited for Sync to come back as a Lemmy app.
But my instance hasn’t updated so I’m stuck with thunder
The stock interface is garbage though. Need them apps to streamline the experience.
It’s pretty damn excellent for a stock UI, and blows reddit out of the water. With that said I use Jerboa
I’m also impressed with Jerboa.
Reddit webui is a really low bar though
I use Voyager and old.lemmy
That’s why I used RES
Does Lemmy have RES? Is it called RES (lol)?
Summit for Lemmy

If anyone’s curious here’s one of my announcement posts, and another that includes mod tools.

the problem is mobile, using browser there sucks
The solution is Linux Mobile, where browser becomes the only option as apps don’t tend to be available, but it’s a full fledged browser so it can use all the appropriate addons. I mean, Waydroid exists, and so do native Linux Lemmy apps.

PWA’s are the happy place in-between browser and app on mobile. Voyager is great, especially when installed as a PWA.
DuckDuckGo is magical.

So, no, it’s not a problem.

Good advice but too smug for my taste. I give this post a C- and a downvote.
Thanks for the feedback.
Or, I could just hit download in the play store and sign in. It’s great you can do that. Not everyone wants to go through that effort though.
Try using wefwef.app It’s a great mobile browser friendly way to access Lemmy.
@atomWood @MaxElFantasma Recently renamed to Vger I think. https://vger.app
Oh, you’re totally right. I hadn’t noticed the change.
This is really great, thank you very much!
I like Jerboa, but I have two lemmy accounts, and this will be a great improvement for browsing my second account.
Jerboa switches back and forth between accounts pretty well, I’ve found.
I didn’t realize for some reason that I could do this ayyy
No it’s renamed to Voyager, vger is just the url
@rbits you are absolutely correct. I edited my post but edits may not propagate to all servers
Ha, a Star Trek reference, I like it.
It’s a reference to the Voyager space program, which followed the Apollo space program. Apollo was the name of the reddit app for iOS that was very popular, and had many of the same features
And the URL vger is a reference to this.
That’s weird. I’m currently on Memmy, when I tap your link it stops at V , skipping ‘ger entirely. Though I ended up inside of Memory Alpha, all I got was:

Fantastic experience, I endorse this webapp
Easier to remember the m.lemmy.world link, should work for any instance afaik
Perhaps, but m.lemmy.world is just using wefwef anyway.
Its Voyager now, but there are many links that all connect to it. Just saying its easier to remember than wefwef since thats not even the name of the app anymore

Sync is still my favorite app for Reddit. And now I’m waiting Sync for lemmy.
In the meantime I’ll be using liftoff. Seem like it’s pretty close to sync, but no as good as sync.
Liftoff is my daily driver, Voyager is also great. It’s awesome how many open source Lemmy apps are in active development right now.

Brave Browser + uBlock Origin (for PC) Jerboa (for Mobile)

FTFY
What? No. Lemmy web is clunky. Try an app bruh.
