Are you really trying to take the moral high ground while arguing that the term “idiot” should be revived and solely reserved for people with mental disabilities related to intelligence? JFC this is what happens when you take sniffing your own farts a little too far.

It’s like you want to enshrine the word in its most hateful form rather than allow its meaning to be diluted into something powerless and inconsequential.

I think to further save time/money you can contact your insurance and ask for the referral yourself. My insurance company actually has a web portal that allows you to search for providers in your area that are covered by them and shows if they have availabilities, reviews, and all that good stuff.

“Child free” just sounds like people who don’t want kids. “Anti-natalism” sounds like people who don’t want kids to exist at all.

What’s ridiculous about it? Morals are subjective.

If I copy a movie that came out 80 years ago and everyone involved with it is now dead, who am I supposedly ‘stealing’ from or depriving of anything? Some faceless corporation who claims ownership over someone else’s work? How about cases where a movie or show isn’t available to buy in your area? Who’s getting deprived of anything there?

You can keep your morals to yourself where they belong.

When you purchase a movie or show you’re still not paying digital artists. You’re paying some corporation who cooks their books to make profit disappear so they can keep it all for themselves. Have you not been following the writer/actor strike currently happening?

Not sure if that NAS is used (and already filled with storage) or not but that price might not include the HDDs. $350 + $300 for a couple large HDDs is most of the way to just building your own PC with lots of storage and infinite more flexibility than a NAS with a fixed bay size.

I’d personally skip the NAS as they’re so expensive for what you get and limited on storage size (what do you do when you fill it?). Sticking to a micro PC and external drives or a built PC with lots of storage space is the more economical way to go.

You can get an old Optiplex micro PC (Optiplex 3060 Micro for example) for around $100 or so online for the time being. The drawback with these, a NUC, and the Shield is that there’s nowhere to store HDDs and you’re forced to use USB rather than SATA. As your collection grows you’ll almost certainly want a larger case to house multiple HDDs rather than having 10 external drives cluttering your space.

I went with a Fractal Design Define R6 for mine which can hold 12ish 3.5" drives in a relatively small footprint.

Also if you want to try Jellyfin you can run it alongside Plex. You don’t have to choose one or the other. I’ve been running Plex and Emby (what Jellyfin was forked off of) for years and both work fine but Plex is more feature rich (with the Plex pass)

Which character from Best in Show would you be?

I’d have to agree. I’ve been pirating for more than two decades but have always viewed stuff like PlexShares with disdain. It brings negative attention to the rest of us when people are doing it for profit plus I don’t like that randos are charging other randos to watch free content. I share my Plex server with friends and family but don’t charge because it’s running for me and my spouse/kid primarily and being able to share it is just a bonus.

It started with HBO Now (or was it Go?) but you still needed a cable subscription to use it and then a year or two later they had the standalone version but it was a mess as some people had to use one but not the other depending on how they subscribed to HBO.

The alternative way of building ratio is by permaseeding files and then using points to buy more ratio. There are tons of freeleech files on there that you can download and seed but you can’t do it by seeding 3 hours a day and then shutting your PC off. This will apply to just about every private tracker.

Every private tracker I’ve joined has had similar seeding requirements. Some are as little as 3 days seeding within the first week or so. With a seedbox you’ll be able to seed even when your PC is shut off. For the rest of us, we have our servers running 24/7 to seed from home.

I don’t know where you live, but you might look into some low power PC like a Raspberry Pi or Dell micro PC and seed from that since they only consume 5-10 watts of power.

Honestly you can probably find 90% of what you’re looking for on public trackers. Private trackers just offer a better selection, better speeds, and sometimes more niche content but they’re not a requirement. I lived off public trackers for a decade and rarely had issues finding stuff.

And just because there is some new method available doesn’t mean you’re retaining your privacy there either. I have a VPN to hide my IP and as far as I’m concerned that’s enough ‘privacy’ to avoid any issues.

What’s the worst that’ll happen, my ISP sends me a letter telling me to knock it off? You’re acting like this is some sort of top secret black ops mission in need of complete secrecy.

Ah more empty promises like when they said they’d fix their app or add more moderation tools. “Just do what I want you to do now and I swear we’ll give you what you’ve been asking for at some undetermined later date. I swear!”

I’ve been doing it for 20 years and have never been caught. I’ve never even heard of i2p until here just a couple of weeks ago. The fact that certain people are pushing it so hard and referring to standard methods in such a derogatory way makes me highly skeptical of trying it out.

You realize people on the internet are also people that live next door to you and me too, right?

So I this entire thing, like everything these days, is made up to push a narrative.

But you’re the one who brought up Texas and laid out the narrative that their isolated grid doesn’t have any issues that the rest of the country doesn’t have as well. Who’s pushing the narrative here?

My thoughts exactly. The first two comments directly contradict each other immediately. “The climate isn’t changing” … “the climate is only changing because of humans”

I think they think this is some deep and profound personal insight that the rest of us just can’t comprehend.

Are you using port forwarding? Back when I had PIA (before they sold), they would randomly assign you a port when you connected which caused major issues with QBit as you have to set a fixed port number. Not sure if that’s your issue but it might be worth looking into.

RARBG used to fill this need for me (inspiration) since they’d highlight popular stuff, but now it’s mostly word of mouth or I’ll occasionally check places like IMDB (or just straight googling) for what’s currently popular/highly rated and what’s coming out in the near future that might interest me or my users.

Don’t forget to include your seed ratios! Employers don’t want to hire leechers

Plus the cost of the subscription. You should be using a VPN with torrents which has its own fees, but at least the VPN is useful for more than just that one thing.

Plus longterm seeding is impossible with a seedbox unless you pay those high storage prices. This is bad for sustainability as a whole.

While connected to the VPN you shouldn’t be able to see your real IP address. There is a torrent magnet link near the bottom left of the page that you can download and run on your client (qbit, transmission, etc) which will check whether that’s leaking anything too.

If you set the series to “Anime” it should use both episode number and absolute numbering when searching for anime. It’s certainly not perfect but it gets the job done most of the time.

And generally it grabbing a bad release is due to it being uploaded on a tracker with little moderation. I tend to blacklist a site once this happens more than once or twice.

Get Prowlarr instead of Jackett and then install sonarr/radarr too. No more manual searching at all!

I’d avoid this as you’d like be converting from lossless to lossless compression (like taking a photocopy of a photocopy). I think (not by my server ATM) that you can set exclusion words in both sonarr and radarr, do you could add “Dolby vision, DV, etc” to this list and they shouldn’t grab them.

Neither Mullvad nor iVPN are offering port forwarding so neither will be ideal for torrenting.

No it’s more just claiming superiority over current generations because their childhood was more ‘real’ or some shit. Same as people talking about how they played outside all day, how their parents beat the shit out of them when they were disrespectful, how they didn’t play video games, etc. These are usually followed with comments about how “the world has gone to shit” and “kids these days are so much worse.”

Yes it’s making fun of the originals that get passed around by people on Facebook, who think saying “I drank from the garden hose” makes them some damned icon that we should all strive to emulate.
