Don’t get me wrong, its pretry good all around. Its privacy policy isn’t so bad either, as it seems it only shares your watch history with advertisers and I’m willing to give them that. Its just that if there’s an alternative that doesn’t do any if that I’d take it.

Also, Trakt seems to be one of the first big ones of its kind, so I fear that it could get bought off in the future and become an actual privacy nightmare.

Even if there’s no fediverse equivalent, an open source or even just a moderately privacy respecting one would be nice.

Visited reddit the other day and it was kinda frustrating to see some of the people that said they would never use the Reddit app complaining about it but still using it every day lol.

I’ll stick to going there once in a while until old.reddit is completely gone

You don’t need to give Facebook information about your relationship with your friends and family members, your home address and location all the time. Just look at the information it collects from the iOS appstore, most of those data points aren’t needed to provide you the service at all. Its like giving the post office the list of people you have been in a relationship with just because they ask for it.

Anything I wouldn’t tell a random stranger. Like who are my friends, their phone numbers, where I live, my full name, my location at all times, etc.

Kinda reminds me of some argument on twitter where one of them was sexist but was asking for the other person’s pronouns to “insult them properly”.
