The thing with programming is it isn’t really 8h of looking at the screen unless you make it that, and your boss is an asshole. We had plenty of excercise during the day - we were sparring with swords, going for walks, had an accessible gym, etc. A good company understands a problem isn’t getting solved quicker by chaining someone to the PC. Though I get you - I gave it up too. Now running my own medical device company - pays like shit but is infinitely more satisfying / fulfilling. At least the interesting R&D part is lol.
It depends on the sound of the show for me. For instance - American Dad, old Futurama are great. Family guy, not so much. I also like to listen to specific streamers condensed videos. ZFG1 is a dude that plays old Legend of Zelda games. He’s got a great voice to sleep through, which doesn’t get boring - he plays the game in randomizers, which changes the playthrough but makes it still familiar enough to listen to. There are hundreds of 7 hour long playthroughs, along with hundreds of videos that are cut down to like 40 mins.
She’s a mother. That’s what mothers do. They don’t see their babies as fully grown men / women, they remember the tiny kid that she could hold with one hand when stirring soup with the other. If you weren’t a 100kg, 185cm chunk of flesh she would still be doing it if she could. Asking about the food temperature, if it’s good, is part of it, even if you’ve eaten the same favourite meal for 20 years straight and it is perfect every time. Asking if you want a sandwich, or if she should make a simple meal is too. It’s not that you can’t, or you are too grown up to need someone to make you a sandwich. It simply is their way of showing that they care about you.
And I am saying this as a guy who still gets told that colder food upsets the stomach, being asked if I need any food in a house literally stocked to the ceilling in the kitchen. Being upset about such a tiny thing is really narcisistic.
Yeah, but reddit automatically bans you for a few minutes in a specific community once you get enough downvotes. The more you get, the longer it takes to reply to people. So any opinion that’s truly unpopular (i.e. not “I like cats better than dogs”) will get you to post less, with toxic people throwing their 3 cents in, calling you names, and you can’t respond at all since you are limited to a comment every 20 mins.
I dobt lemmy would implement autobanning like that.
Adhd meds here are controlled substances too. It makes it so the prescription lasts only a month. But how many packs of meds you have on this prescription, is only set by your doctor. So I get 4 months refills and have to buy it within one month.
And yeah, med shortage over here is an issue too.
