Yeah I checked the next day. Apparently that download came with like 3 different versions of each book in ebook format. So freaking cool. Got me to cancel my audible sub finally 😂 now I just need to get into a good site for audiobooks and stuff. Thank you again.

So I got this set up tonight and holy shit. A little confusing at first and currently only available when I’m at home but that’s fine since I can download them like I normally do anyway. But holy shit. It’s Plex for audiobooks. I’m sure there is more for me to do but I’m blown away just from start.

Only question I still have it how the hell did I get the ebooks… I don’t think I have those downloaded but I can just open the ebook right from the audiobook page.

What do you use to listen to these audiobooks? I’ve downloaded a copy of my favorite series but no idea what to use to listen to them. I prefer something with some kind of cloud sync between devices but it’s not required and I’m fine self hosting that data in like Google drive or something.

I disagree about the natural talent one. From my perspective thats the obvious first pick. At work I’m currently training to be a Crane Operator and struggle busing hard with it. Like yeah I could use it to get muscles but thats not even where I first went just because imo the ability to quickly learn a new skill is invaluable. imagine being a natural at negotiating business dealings to get a favorable outcome for your side. once you figure out how to turn your natural talent into money a lot of the other things will be able to fall into place.

Oh that’s for sure a big expense for most people myself included but if you go to the open collective link above the estimated budget for lemmy.world this year is only 16k ish. and thats to host one of if not the biggest instance right now. if every user donated a dollar the instance could run possibly for years.

Thanks for asking this. This is something I’ve been serious about for awhile. Turns out while it’s expensive in the grand scheme of giant website it’s not that expensive money wise. Though it is very time expensive.

Yeah I have premium and every account I have that offers 2fa is set up but Lemmy will only let me set it up in authy or Google auth. It won’t give bitwarden as an option or give me the code to manually add it to bitwarden.

I had the same problem on the liftoff app. Had to delete the account then sign back in and everything worked perfectly again. Personally I also changed my password because it made me feel better.

Yeah I use Bitwarden for all my passwords and 2FA I have Authy and Google Auth as well but bitwarden will auto copy my 2FA

As someone from lemmy.world this is good to know. I would love to set up 2FA on my account but I can only set it up on my phone and it forces me to open in an app I don’t want to use. Yay me. Glad I used a temp email and random password though. Off I go to change the password

Agreed I haven’t spent much time using Lemmy on an app but I’m hoping those can make it easier somehow atleast for mobile users.

Because when you click a link out of link Google or something you try to login and it says your login doesn’t work. To actually view that page properly you have to copy the link go you home instance and search it again then go to the post and then you can interact with it. Some people either A. don’t realize that or B. Don’t understand that’s how it all functions. It confused the shit out of me for the first couple days but I just didn’t care enough to create a new account because my account “should” have worked there I just didn’t know how to make that happen.

My only think is it would be trivial for meta to do this with any other instance and not tell anyone it was theirs. There is nothing stopping meta from spinning up an instance and not claiming it as there while the rest of the fediverse continues to federate with them. Would still give them open access to everything and their instance wouldn’t even need to be super populated to get most the information they could want.
