I’m just your average Canadian wolf. I’m a siren enthusiast and railfan as my main hobbies. I run the Civil Defense Sirens Wiki, and am working on restoring a few vintage sirens (such as a FS&S Model L and a rare Sterling Siren MOD. F) as well as a 1970s Safetran mechanical crossing bell.

The tankies are out in full force on this thread and downvoting everyone the instant they comment, so it’s not as controversial as it looks. Just a handful of butthurt authoritarians.

Dunking on other instances was literally the entire reason they federated in the first place. Their users were salivating at what they would do to lemmy.ca before we defed’d.

Hexbear is (was) an instance that’s become infamous for the awful behaviour of its users in other instances in the past. They are mainly authoritarian communists (often known as Tankies) who like to yell at people for having different opinions and especially love to troll.

To expand on this for those who weren’t around during the days when they were federated with most instances, Hexbear’s users are needlessly hostile towards anyone who disagrees with them, they had a bug that caused their emotes to become oversized on Lemmy which quickly flooded threads when their users spam them, and they have a reputation for brigading threads to “dunk” on people. They also really like to flood threads with graphic images of pigs shitting on their own testicles, because that’s definitely what normal people do.

It’s worth noting that they don’t federate with other instances to participate in good faith, they do so in order to dunk on people and “dismantle Western propaganda” and “plant the beans of truth in other instances fields” and in general act in bad faith. Worse, their instance admins did little to stop this.

They were defederated from many instances for good reason, as their behaviour drove away a lot of new users. A lot of Hexbear users have alts on lemmy.ml and midwest.social, so the defederation doesn’t stop their users from continuing to be dickheads.

And if you’d like some receipts, I have plenty of examples. Best viewed from an instance that federates with Hexbear, so you can see their behaviour for yourself.

Edit: A tankie already got upset about this post, love to see it! :P

It stands for Mali (the country the domain is registered to) but I think Marxist-Leninist was a happy coincidence for them.

I’m truly amazed this person isn’t banned in more communities. I’ve never seen a single comment from LemmyKnowsBest that wasn’t hostile, rude, condescending, or a mix of them. They have no respect for anyone.

Even supported by their admins. They only intend to brigade, harass, and “dunk on” other instances with bad faith arguments and emoji spam.

“I don’t know what the fuck you’re saying, but you need to simmers down over there!”

Her body, her choice. The fetus is a parasitic clump of cells until it comes- out of the womb, and it is entirely up to her what she wants to do with it. The fetus does not have the right to be born as it is a clump of parasitic cells, not a person. Bodily autonomy is a fundamental right, the government cannot force you to donate blood, even if it would kill someone else who needs it if you didn’t. So why should a woman have to carry around an unwanted parasite that does permanent, often harmful changes to her body and can sometimes kill her?

They call it “locker room talk”, I call it “being a complete asshole but too cowardly to do so publicly”

Now add accents to the mix, and the problem becomes ten times worse. I always feel so horrible asking my foreign coworkers to repeat themselves because my brain just refuses to pick up what they’re saying. Oftentimes I get it completely wrong, or I just give up, smile and nod, and hope they weren’t asking me anything important. I already have trouble picking up on what people are saying the first time as is, even clear native English speakers…

BlockTube extension is also a must. It will make sure a video or channel NEVER appears again, no matter what.
