That implies that the non richest 10% is happy with that and aren’t trying to catch up with the richest 10%. That is completely untrue. The idea behind decreasing the world population is that a smaller population could all live in modern comfort. I have a feeling that this comic was written by someone very much in the richest 10%.
Cold smoked salmon which you’re referring to is not cooked, it’s cured and smoked at temperatures lower than cooking. There’s also hot smoked salmon which is still done at low temps but high enough to cook it so it kills bacteria but it does have a more cooked texture. The curing and smoking process of smoked salmon doesn’t really kill much bacteria, it mainly inhibits it by creating a hostile environment for bad bacteria and allows good bacteria to take hold. So the reason smoked salmon doesn’t have a cooked texture is because it isn’t really cooked.
That doesn’t apply if the temperature is below what’s needed to kill bacteria and cold smoked salmon is smoked at temperatures too low to kill bacteria. Smoking inhibits bacteria growth a bit, but it’s mostly the curing that does it, and neither kill bacteria, it just slows it and allows healthy bacteria to take hold.
There’s also hot smoked salmon which is low and slow and above kill temp, but that has a much more cooked texture so op is probably talking about cold smoking. Cold smoking is riskier to do at home for these reasons and store cold smoked salmon is carefully controlled.
I think it varies from person to person. I use it sometimes and will stop for months at a time. The main reason I use it is to help me sleep, and it’s definitely not stopping weed that makes me not sleep since I had those sleep problems for years already while not using weed. Before it was legalized I only ever smoked at parties and had zero desire to go out of my way to find a dealer so I’d only use it very rarely and sometimes went years between using. Once it was legalized I started using lightly only for sleep and stress relief. Before I took sleeping pills instead but prefer weed because it doesn’t make me as drowsy in the morning. I think it’s a non statement to say that stopping weed makes it harder to fall asleep when one of its effects is making it easier to sleep. If the status quo is not falling asleep as well, stopping a sleep aid will of course return you to the status quo
Yeah I never choose a shared house since I’m not traveling solo. If you’re renting a room in a shared house I’d expect there to be rules and things you have to do.
The only bad experience I’ve had with Airbnb is confusing check in processes or slow to respond hosts. One place I went to had poor instructions and it was really confusing finding the right garage and the host didn’t respond for hours and there was a language barrier. On the other hand, it was a huge really well designed apartment with a jacuzzi tub and still cheaper than a hotel so I’d still call that place a win.
And while not the dictionary definition of cruel since it has no motive, I think the feeling of metaphoric cruelty is there in that if you need to protect yourself from the universe, so I think it’s pedantic to complain about that wording as well.
