I feel like I’m the only one that doesn’t mind people joining threads. It gets more people to join the fediverse (a good thing), which not only introduces more people to the fediverse (potentially with them moving to other instances) but also potentially gets more people to set up their own personal instances for themselves OR a group of family/friends

or you know, just don’t use instances that have admins that are powerhungry, authoritarian, censorious dicks. (If you’re looking for a good mastodon instance like that, I’d recommend checking out qoto.org)

Disagree. It should be up to the individual USERS to have the freedom to block whatever user or instance that they want. Honestly the whole point of the fediverse is just freedom and not being at the whim of some god figure overlord

just as long as it’s not a shitty scenario such as using discord where the information is 1. not publicly searchable because it’s stuck behind a login page, and 2. even though technically discord has a search function, good luck finding what you’re looking for
