Well I am an American and I support American values, so as far as I’m concerned it’s wrong and illegal.
Also isn’t lemmy.world in America? Pretty sure it is since they did remove two of their communites for this very reason:
This is the dumbest detail for me to get hung up on, but lemmy.world is hosted in Finland on servers rented from a German company by a Dutch admin.
I don’t think it’s either, the joke is just that they combined Plato’s cave with a meme template (see the “They don’t know” section)
Take a look: https://youtu.be/s7tWHJfhiyo
Isn’t that specifically about First Past the Post? (which is mainly only used in places that were once British)
The neat thing about Lemmy is that you can just check the mod logs: https://lemmy.world/modlog?page=1&userId=345529
Apparently they got a 7-day ban for breaking lemmy.ml’s ‘No bigotry’ rule
Your instance could (edit: theoretically, if they’re running custom Lemmy code) track you by your browser fingerprint (screen size, installed fonts, plugins, etc.). Others could keep a profile on you based on what you comment/post/upvote and when.
Is sappho.social a brand new instance too?
