Subscribed. I’ve seen an anime or two in my day, so I might be able to help identify.

Added you to the list of specialized instances.

Having the NSFW patch will be nice. Hiding NSFW for logged-out users with no way to change it is a really irritating design decision on the part of the lemmy devs. Though the patch used on lemmynsfw doesn’t seem to work right. Maybe ask pornlemmy about the patch that they use? Also, remember to share whatever changes you make, since lemmy is licensed under the AGPL.

For the incognito patch, could you make it toggle-able, or part of one of the alternate UIs? I like having access to stuff in my browser history. It might be better just to remind people to switch their browser to incognito mode.

Also, you may want to hammer out an explicit policy early on of what types of content you will and won’t allow, and what kinds of instances you will and won’t federate with. This will help avoid having the kind of drama that happened on lemmynsfw.

> > > linux4noobs is a community dedicated to offering assistance with Linux installation, configuration, and utilization. While its primary goal is to provide and receive support, this community also serves as a hub for sharing and discussing all things Linux among like-minded enthusiasts. By fostering a community where more individuals understand and use Linux, we contribute to its continuous improvement and advancement. The golden rule: - Maintain respectful and amiable discussions. This is a safe space where individuals may freely inquire, exchange thoughts, express viewpoints, and extend help without encountering belittlement. I had been trying to grow these two:

They were reasonably popular on reddit, 3m+ and 2m+ subscribers respectively. I started posting once per day to each of them soon after I migrated over, though my meme stash has mostly run dry at this point (I do have a bit more to post to anime_irl). There are some regular posters in anime_irl now, but animemes has been pretty dead since I stopped posting. I’ve also promoted them in the usual places.

There’s also my own community, kbin.social/m/specialized_instances / /c/[email protected], for cataloging topic/location focused instances. It works fine as a solo project, but I wouldn’t mind having more suggestions of things to add to the list.

Yeah, discoverability isn’t great for communities that aren’t already popular. BTW, I’m not saying “join this instead”, but rather “consider cross-subscribing”.

So is the concern (for lemmy.zip) that .zip domains might go away, due to the potential for abuse?

Lemmy is licensed under the AGPL, so they’re required to share modifications to the source code. I wouldn’t necessarily come out swinging at them, but you may want to inquire. lemmynsfw was also running a similar patch at one point, so it might be worth reaching out to them too.

There could be downsides that I’m not considering. I figure that:

  • People going to porn sites normally don’t have to register to see the porn, so requiring login is kinda jarring
  • You can’t tell if registration would be worth the effort if you can’t see what the content is like
  • It’s hard to figure out what communities you would want to subscribe to if you’re doing so from another instance

You should consider applying the patch that pornlemmy.com uses, so that people can see your posts and communities without being logged in.

I took a look through exploding-heads and lemmygrad recently, just to see what they were like for myself. Lemmygrad was about what I was expecting. EH on the other hand was just kind of… sad? Pathetic? The one admin begging people to participate more was particularly so.

I was going to submit this community to sub.rehab today, but it just barely meets their criteria (“at least 3 posts that are not submitted by the community’s moderator team”). May be better to wait until it gets a bit more activity.

Nim Programming Language
This got created on programming.dev about 2 weeks ago, but hasn't had much activity yet. Not too surprising as [Nim](https://nim-lang.org/) is a relatively new language. It's super cool and you should check it out, though. It's a compiled language with performance similar to C/C++, but is much more pleasant to work in. Some tend to liken it to working with Python. * [https://programming.dev/c/nim](https://programming.dev/c/nim) * [/c/[email protected]](/c/[email protected])

Lewd Anime Girls - “Your new spot to view Anime Girls being Lewd”
Just found a place to post my more risque anime memes. It has a "no genitals" rule, so not for outright porn: * [https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/c/lewdanimegirls](https://lemmy.fmhy.ml/c/lewdanimegirls) * [/c/[email protected]](/c/[email protected])

Large update to specialized instances list
I just made a very large update to the list of specialized instances. It's now about 3 times the size! I normally won't be making new posts here for updates, but this was a really big one: * [The full list of specialized instances](https://kbin.social/m/specialized_instances/t/186667/Big-list-of-specialized-instances) * [Just the additions](https://kbin.social/m/specialized_instances/t/209830/Large-Update)

Not from my end, that’s what I typed. Kbin and kglitch may be on different versions?

Ah, I guess it does. What about for kbin magazines? !Animemes

Hey now, anarchists don’t deserve this slander. Moderation typically falls under freedom of association/disassociation, which we’re strongly in favor of. The people you have a problem with are the ones that think you should be forced to listen to them, which is pretty contrary to the anarchist ethos.

Yep, I’ve got a pinned post up, listing the instances that were in that thread, along with some others that I was aware of:

https://kbin.social/m/specialized_instances/t/186667/Big-list-of-specialized-instances

If you come across other specialized instances, just make a post about it and I’ll add them to the big list.

Yeah, I was wondering if they were a bot or something at first. I guess they’re just making sure their interests are covered. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It’d be another method to drive traffic to their websites and gain more ad revenue. Same as maintaining a presence on twitter or facebook, or providing an RSS feed.

Animemes and anime_irl
Two communities that don't seem to have been posted here yet: Animemes - A community for anime memes! * [https://kbin.social/m/Animemes](https://kbin.social/m/Animemes) * [[email protected]](/c/[email protected]) And: anime\_irl - me\_irl, but anime * [https://kbin.social/m/anime\_irl](https://kbin.social/m/anime_irl) * [anime\[email protected]](/c/[email protected])

There are valid reasons to be for the merger, and valid reasons to be against it. However, the argument has been posted quite visibly for anyone that cares about it, and the appeal has been made to the lemmy.world admin. The admin will decide what to do, and that should be the end of it.

What we really do not need is a swarm of cranks coming out of the woodwork to Correct The Record™ every time someone makes mention of the event without putting the “proper” spin on it. It is not some grave injustice. If you don’t like the outcome, then join one of the other existing android communities instead of participating in the merger. Or create your own, so that you can run it how you want. And then get on with your life.

No thanks, I’m allergic to filter bubbles. Instead of shitting up every thread and telling people to put in nose plugs, perhaps you could stop being an “ethics in game journalism”-style crank?

We’ll be just fine without your hot take in every thread.

You’ve made two threads about this already. It really doesn’t need to be spammed everywhere.

Definitely not relatable. Please post the source so that I can read more about this person that is certainly not me.

Please put an NSFW tag on this. I was on the train and when I saw this I had to start furiously masterbating. Everyone else gave me strange looks and were saying things like “what the fuck” and “call the police”. I dropped my phone and everyone around me saw this image. Now there is a whole train of men masterbating together at this one image. This is all your fault, you could have prevented this if you had just tagged this post NSFW.

What a fucking cisgender.
