Fair enough. In any case, Lemmy today is not user friendly.

It shouldn’t be a s dangerous idea. It doesn’t matter what email service you’re signed for - you can still communicate with any one in the world. It should be the same for Lemmy. Lemmy UI should be improved to better search and present communities from all over the Fediverse. And join-lemmy should have a random link to a single registration page on a random instance. That will not only make the process better for end users, but will also manage the load between instances, making the whole network more resilient.

I can’t login through Jerboa, lol.

I guess what will happen very soon is that there will be some super cheap subscription based Steam like service with clean and safe pirated games. Just like there are Russian Netfix alternatives, where you pay like $2 per month and get access to streaming and downloading all possible films and series from all over the world.

And once that happens, there will be no going back. The war will end, the sanctions will be lifted, but Russian gamers will never pay for games ever again.

Bready is the place for everything bread related. It’s just that people mostly post pictures at the moment.

You can check his releases on rutracker.ru, sometimes people complain about virus detection, monkrus calls reporters idiots and then his next release is clean.

I just checked your three examples. All of them accept donations of various forms and Lichess also has a merch shop :)

Oh, by the way, your previous point about piracy. You might not be aware, but it’s a huge industry as well with plenty of money going around.

Do you people even understand what is the point of federation and Fediverse? Because it seems you don’t and I’m tired explaining… In short, you should use Reddit instead.

Do you understand what the point of federation is? The point is to have one single account to interact with the whole Fediverse. It shouldn’t matter where you register your account, all Fediverse should be accessible to you.

I don’t know what Lichess is, but Debian has plenty of beefy sponsors, including Google and HP. Their monetisation strategy is sponsorship and it works. But they still have monetisation, that’s the thing.

Do you even know anything about Linux? It’s a multi billion dollar industry! Small projects which don’t have financial support will eventually stagnate and then die. It’s inevitable, because food is not free.

Every decent open source project should have a robust monetisation scheme.

That will break federation in a very bad way. Imagine you’re on such instance which doesn’t want NSFW content, but you subscribe to a NSFW community. Admins block it and you don’t even know it, you just don’t see your community anymore. What do you do? Create another account elsewhere? The whole point of federation is to use one single account EVERYWHERE. Otherwise it’s no different then Reddit and Hacker News - just two random online sites and you have to create a bazillion of accounts everywhere.

Admins should not block anything coming from outside instances. Admins should never defed. Instead you, as a user, should have all the tools to moderate your own feed. If you give away your rights and freedoms, you’ll lose them forever and you’ll be abused on Lemmy the way you were on Reddit.

Monkrus was never trustworthy. He’s a drama queen and has some mental issues. Always double and triple check anything you download from him.

Plants feel a lot, they just can’t express their feelings in a way you can perceive. For example, they feel the difference between a human touching them and wind blowing.

Neither do jellyfish and many other animals. Veganism is just arbitrary lunacy.

You can read about capitalism in Wikipedia.

Most countries today move towards economical fascism, where governments exercise control over private property but do not nationalize it. Lobbying, donor interest protection, cronyism, rise of oligarchy - you can see it in many countries. And then inevitable radicalisation of the public and scapegoating everything else as the core issue. Capitalism, migrants, ecology - everything is a problem but the government.

Where’s US pro capitalist? It’s one of a few countries with legal corruption called lobbying, which helps big corps to shield themselves from competition. US today has a plethora of laws and regulations which create and sustain monopolies. US has whole industries created by lawmakers and completely stonewalled from anyone entering them. Capitalism my ass…

Also capitalism doesn’t require infinite growth. I don’t know where you people are getting that lunacy from.

Where do you have capitalism in US? US is probably one of the most anti capitalist countries in the world right now.

You won’t because you don’t understand what you’re talking about.

We don’t even have capitalism yet, what late stage are you talking about?

What will switching achieve exactly? Mmm? If the communities you’re interested in are only on lemmy.world, you’ll still be on lemmy.world, even if through other instance proxy.

The thing is no one is using built-in messengers outside of US. So yeah, we don’t know anything about bubbles.

uBlock is NOT redundant as many ads today are not served from 3rd party domains. PiHole is redundant as it doesn’t do crap.

Do you even understand the point of federation? Also stop with offensive language, that won’t be tolerated here.

It’s not the same as owning a home. Also you can put your own hardware on premises or rent a static IP address. All of your arguments are nothing but ignorance.

Welcome to [Bready](/c/[email protected])! This is a community for anything related to making homemade bread. Bloomers, loafs, flatbreads, rye breads, wheat breads, sourdough breads, yeast breads - all fermented breads are welcome! Vienesse pastries like croissants are also welcome because technically they’re breads too. All refugees from r/breadit and r/sourdough are welcome. [[email protected]](https://lemmy.world/c/bready)
